The company started in 1921 when Busaburo Otsuka, a farmer’s son broke with tradition and set up a factory manufacturing chemical raw materials.

By 1946, his son Masahito had turned the business into an IV solution company, distributing products to hospitals across Japan. Within 25 years, Otsuka became the largest supplier of intravenous solutions to hospitals in Japan.

In 1964, Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was established. Otsuka has since grown from 10 people into a global organisation of 47,000 people (as of March 2023), with a core focus on pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals.

The Otsuka Nordic business was founded in 2001 and has operations in four Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Since 2018 Otsuka operations in the BeNeLux countries are also included within the Otsuka Nordic and BeNeLux family. Otsuka Nordic and BeNeLux focuses on CNS and speciality medicines and our exciting pipeline will continue to enable us to provide treatments in areas of high unmet patient needs.

TILLSATT - Medical Affairs Manager Oncology/Nephrology

In the position as The Medical Affairs Manager you will lead Otsuka's medical strategy, ensuring compliance in all brand plans. The responsibility includes day to day strategic and operational oversight of the MSLs, helping them to identify priorities to focus on and ensuring they operate in an efficient, strategic and compliant manner. This position is also responsible for continuous development and training of the team.

The Medical Affairs Manager also supports the Field medical team in Medical Operations, platforms and systems. Including simplification of Global/European processes for Otsuka Pharma Scandinavia AB (OPSAB) market and creating and withholding a structure for sharing and storing of Medical Affairs information. Be responsible for training the team in processes and systems.

• Accountable for medical budget in the assigned therapeutical areas.
• Works internally with marketing, BUD, Legal and Compliance, Sales team, Market Access team, Medical Team, Regulatory and PV/QA/MI teams.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the MSL team within Oncology and Nephrology
• Coordinate medical strategi for inline products, supporting MSLs in medical affairs plan creation.
• Study management (IIS proposals, OSS, RWE): Align on priorities and guide the team in study processes and practices.
• Regular follow up on Medical Affairs Plan and KOL engagement monitoring the progress throughout the year.
• Take responsibility for medical affairs area budget, projects, activities.

Who are we looking for?

Qualifications and experience

• Relevant academic degree
• Profound experience from Medical Affairs Management in the pharmaceutical industry is required
• Overview general knowledge about regulatory affairs, quality assurance, medical information and drug safety is an advantage
• Good knowledge of hematology/oncology
