STARLIMS was acquired by Abbott in March 2010. This acquisition enables Abbott to provide a common informatics framework across all of their diagnostics businesses and, equally important, will help accelerate STARLIMS growth strategy in the non-diagnostics market segments it currently serves.

Based in USA, STARLIMS is a leading provider of laboratory information management systems, with more than 20 years of LIMS experience. The company's products help improve the reliability of laboratory sampling processes, support compliance with domestic and international regulations and industry standards, and provide comprehensive reporting, monitoring and analysis capabilities. STARLIMS software is used for quality assurance and control, testing and monitoring, and research and development in government, manufacturing and life sciences organizations. With 12 development and support centers across the globe, STARLIMS serves customers in more than 40 countries.
Currently there are three employees covering the Nordic area.

Senior Consultant IT (LIMS) - Nordic
STARLIMS has in almost 25 years helped hundreds of laboratories, in the public health, environmental, petrochemical, forensic, pharmaceutical, clinical and diagnostic sectors to optimize data accessibility, integrity, defensibility and long-term value.

The unified web-based platform includes award-winning Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), as well as Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) functionality and a Scientific Data Management System (SDMS). Based on experience working with hundreds of labs in multiple disciplines and industries, STARLIMS offers an expansive functionality set right out of the box.

The position - A key consultant position serving the Nordic countries
You will be part of a professional and a dedicated team, currently consisting of three employees based in Sweden who is serving our Nordic customers. As a “Senior Consultant” your main responsibility will be to act as a project leader for our current and upcoming laboratory projects in the public health, environmental, petrochemical, forensic, pharmaceutical, clinical and diagnostic sectors. You will lead, monitor, support and evaluate the LIMS implementation and look after that it will happen on time, on budget and with no surprises. The location is in Sweden, preferably in the Stockholm area but other locations will be taken into consideration if it is close to an airport. Estimated annual travel is 25 percent equal to approximately 50 days.

Primary Objective of Position
Configure STARLIMS out of the box solutions to address customer requirements.
Is responsible for project management to deliver high quality on time and on budget LIMS solutions that address customer business and workflow requirements. This includes managing scope, planning, budget, quality, communication, changes, risks and issues.
Participate in a team-oriented environment to install software and configure, document, and test laboratory workflows, business rules, system and instrument interfaces, create and modify reports and queries, and perform data migration, validation testing, and training of customer personnel
Manage or assist with the project initiation process including the kickoff meeting and detailed requirements gathering. Develops the gap analysis and create or assist with development of the project plan.
Provide technical capabilities for planning and implementing system installation, upgrade, configuration, and related change control and verification activities for Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and oversee execution within the area of responsibility. Provide day-to-day support including problem resolution and coordination of operational activities. Research & evaluate alternative solutions and make recommendations for improved system operations.
Develops processes that lead to shortened cycle time; makes major impact decisions.
Assigns problems which require unique design and research approaches.
Develops new approaches to problems which vary from standard techniques and procedures.
Major Accountabilities
Daily interaction with clients and peer resources.
Supervises and provides direction to other consultants. Daily interaction with clients and peer resources.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Activities may be under the guidance of Project Manager or can be independent working directly with a customer leading a project.
Must have skills to plan and schedule own work activities, and coordinate activities with other Senior consultants and Consultants.
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Will be involved in or leads customer presentations, customer training, or internal training for STARLIMS personnel.
Accountable for meeting deliverable commitments including schedule and quality compliance. Errors or failure to achieve results may result in project delays and/or the expenditure of more resources.
Provides technical support to project team members.
Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
May provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be a top level contributor/specialist.
Maintain high customer service by assisting support with customer issue resolution and coordinate inclusion of customer issue resolution with product/ project patches and releases.

Knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems and laboratory operations is strongly preferred
Programming: SQL capabilities and programming concepts
Fluent English & Swedish; both written and spoken
Experience in an IT organization or laboratory organization
Bachelor level education

Desirable is:
Experience in project management
Knowledge/Experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server
5 years of combined experience
