Type-2 diabetes occurs when the body builds a resistance to insulin, meaning the body is unable to regulate blood glucose levels.
There is a clinical overlap between diabetes, cardiovascular disease (CVD) and renal diseases. People with type-2 diabetes are two to three times more likely to suffer from heart attacks and strokes compared to those without diabetes, and have a greater risk of chronic kidney disease, which affects more than 30 million adults in the United States alone.

The position – Key Account Manager Diabetes

Region: 7-klövern (responsible for approximately 2-3 County Councils)

As a Key Account Manager (KAM) for Diabetes, you will be one of 11 Key Account Managers in Sweden, part of the National Diabetes Team and play an important role in the contribution to the diabetes franchise strategy.

Key Account Manager at AstraZeneca is a field based customer-facing role responsible for the sales and customers in a defined region containing approximately two Swedish County Councils. The Key Account manager is responsible for diabetes communication to primary care, diabetes specialists, regional payer groups, health care professional groups and specialist organizations. The Key Account Manager is accountable for the regional business in collaboration with a cross-functional team.

We are in an exciting phase with a modern product portfolio.. There are extensive ongoing clinical trial program (DapaCare) for Forxiga, that discovers other valid benefits of the treatment with Forxiga, meaning more opportunities in the future.

Forxiga®, a SGLT2 which is the latest class in the arsenal of treatments for type 2 diabetes
Forxiga (dapagliflozin) is a selective inhibitor of human sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2 inhibitor) indicated as monotherapy and as part of combination therapy to improve glycaemic control in adult patients with Type 2 diabetes.

Forxiga delivers effect on HbA1c reduction as well as effect on secondary endpoints as reduced blood pressure and weight loss. There is also an ongoing extensive clinical program for Forxiga (DapaCare) and the first study from this program will be presented next year.

Forxiga is a top priority for AstraZeneca and the diabetes team in Sweden.

Required profile

Qualifications and profile
· Academic degree or equivalent, commercial or healthcare background
· Solid experience from successful pharmaceutical sales, preferable from a Primary care area or
· Alternatively a Sales talent with an educational background as Pharmacist (Master of Science in Pharmacy), “Receptarie” (Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy) or a Master in Biomedicine
· Proven track record of strategic thinking, judgment and persuasion/negotiation skills
· Proven record of strong sales performance, excellent communication and education skills
· Strong social ability with a strive to contact, meet and build long lasting relations
· A true team player with social competency, trustworthiness and with a positive and constructive mindset
· Good planning skills
· Interest and knowledge in science
· Experience of market access and marketing work e.g. experience in localizing campaigns and other material as required, including management of local agencies (desirable)
· Proven ability to understand, assimilate and communicate scientific information and Health Economic Outcomes data (desirable)
· Proven track record of engaging and developing lasting relationships with a broad base of key stakeholders in complex clinical environments, e.g., mid/senior level healthcare professionals. (desirable)
· Good understanding of the ethical code and compliance requirements
· LIF certificated within Pharma Industry or valid exemption (Pharmacist, “Receptarie”, Master in Biomedicine)
· Clean Drivers Licence
