Abbott provides products within pharmaceuticals, medical care, diagnostics and nutrition. The position Market Access Director relates specifically to the Pharmaceutical part of the business. The pharmaceutical products include treatments for people with HIV; therapies for sufferers of rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's Disease and other autoimmune disorders; drugs for the treatment of people with migraines, epilepsy and mania associated with bipolar disorder; antibiotics; and specialized medicines for managing obesity, thyroid disease, high cholesterol, hypertension, dyslipidemia and cancer.


Market Access Value Proposition Manager

The Position

Market Access is an increasingly important area for Abbott. To further strengthen the focus on market access, Abbott is now recruiting a Market Access Value Proposition Manager (MAVPM) to the Market Access department. The position is placed at Abbotts Swedish headquarters in Solna outside Stockholm. The MAVPM is part of the Market Access team and reports to the Market Access Director.

The MAVPM mission is to transform and deliver solid Market Access and Health Economic value propositions to different customers, payers and stakeholders in the Swedish healthcare. The position is highly involved in interacting with internal and external stakeholders driving the market access agenda across the business.

Skills needed for position

High priority skills and competencies
• Ability to interpret scientific and pharmaco-economic data to assess its relevance to stakeholders and build into value messages

• Ability to think strategically to understand how to position a value-story in the context of brand and affiliate strategy

• Ability to effectively interface with customers in order to deliver value messages and gather insights

• Ability to lead/manage cross-functional projects in order to develop value propositions

• A good understanding of the activities during the development, registration, pre-launch and launch of a product and full proficiency in technical aspects of HEOR studies

Moderate priority skills and competencies

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, in order to facilitate internal brand team working and external presentations to authorities and payers. Some experience of medical writing

• Excellent and well developed project management skills across a matrix and multi functional discipline team.
• Ability to analyse complex models and scientific data and transfer it into compelling messages
• Ability to interpret and synthesise clinical data and local health economic data for development and adaption of and incorporation into local HEOR models

• Ability to understand and develop recommendations for epidemiological and observational studies


• Degree in economics, science, statistics, epidemiology, clinical, pharmacology or other relevant academic background

• Extra merit is master/additional academic qualification in health or macro economics

• A solid working experience from pharmaceutical industry, healthcare payer/provider, consultants or academic institutions. Candidate has market access and HEOR experience working with reimbursement and HTA bodies, payers etc

• Relevant knowledge of health economic theory, decision-analytic modelling

• Experience of statistics and evidence-based medicine, experience from clinical outcome register extra merit.
