Position: Application Specialist Microbiology Nordic

Reporting to: Business Director North West Europe, BD Diagnostic Systems

Location: Field based with access to work desk at BD Nordic HQ Stockholm/Årsta

Role Description

The Application Specialists primary responsibility is to deliver expert scientific- and product support to our customers in the Nordic region, primary in Clinical Microbiology. As Product Expert you shall understand customer needs and BD solutions; improve sales effectiveness and BD DS penetration in the Nordic market. Maximize instrument utilization and reagents sales. Optimize customer support and routine implementation times.

You will be the main contact to our customers in product, application and technical matters. Your scientific and practical Microbiology expertise will optimize the value, which our customers enjoy using BD Diagnostic systems and products. The support consists of on-site or remote support, training and demonstrations, and workshops at our customers sites. You will also be participating as a BD representative in specific lab exhibitions and conferences. As the representative for BD diagnostic Nordic participate in meetings and educations organized by BD Diagnostics Europe.

The key objective with the role is to achieve superior perceived customer satisfaction and loyalty to BD diagnostics systems, products and solutions.

The position is placed in Sweden (preferable Stockholm area) and covers the Nordic countries. The BD Nordic headquarter is situated outside Stockholm with supporting offices in Copenhagen, Helsinki and Trondheim.

The costumers are 50-60 hospital Clinical Microbiology labs around the Nordic with a focus on Sweden, Denmark and Finland.

Education and Experience

Required:
Solid knowledge (theoretical as well as operational) in Microbiology and Biology.

Desired:
MSc in Microbiology, Molecular Biology or Medical Microbiology
Experience in Project Management or Experience in sales processes
Experience in customer facing and scientific support
Product Management experience

Skills and Knowledge

• Excellent customer facing and interpersonal skills. Consistent professionalism in customer interactions by personal discussion and phone with a high understanding for customer needs and expectations.
• High customer service orientation – available, fast and customized customer service
• Project Management skills
• Strong analytical/diagnostic skills
• Hands-on and actions oriented – self motivated, independent and decisive
• Understanding of the heath care environment
• Effective interpersonal skills, including effective internal and external communications and conflict resolution skills,

• Effective use of tools and techniques for organizing the working environment and oneself
• Strong educationalist, presentor and communicator (technical writing experience highly desired)
• Effective knowledge and use of various computer and software systems; proficient PC skills required
• Readiness to travel on a weekly basis within Nordic countries and Europe is required
• Fluent spoken/written Swedish, English; additional Nordic language skills are a plus especially Finnish.

The BD Diagnostic Nordic team
The BD Diagnostic Systems Nordic team consists of about 10 people with different specialist roles. The team is led by the Business Director Diagnostic System North West Europe. There are also a Senior Technical Sales & Product expert, Key Account Managers, Application Specialist, Market coordinator, Tech service, Customer service and Instrument coordinator. The team members are working in a close collaboration to optimize customer satisfaction and reach business objectives.
