Novavax AB är ett helägt dotterbolag till det amerikanska vaccinföretaget Novavax, Inc, vilket är noterat på NASDAQ i USA (NVAX). Novavax, Inc har utvecklat ett effektivt produktionssystem för antigen och utvecklar olika vaccinkandidater riktade mot bl.a. säsongs- och pandemisk influensa (H5N1), respiratoriskt syncytialvirus (RSV) och andra svåra infektionssjukdomar, t ex som Ebola och Covid-19. Bolaget är nu inne i en expansiv fas med anledning av nuvarande pandemi där extern finansiering finns för att utveckla ett vaccin mot Covid-19.

Novavax AB i Uppsala utvecklar och producerar ett saponinbaserat vaccinadjuvans - Matrix-M™. Kliniska studier visar att Matrix-M™ effektivt stimulerar kroppen till ett potent immunsvar omfattande både ett cellulärt och antikroppsmedierat svar vid vaccinering. Novavax AB har kommersiell tillverkning för veterinära produkter och flertalet projekt i olika klinisk fas för människa. Covid-19 vaccinet har nyligen fått nödgodkännande från flertalet länder.

Director Operations



Job Title: Director Operations
Reports to: Managing Director at Novavax AB
Location: Novavax i Uppsala

Novavax is in a very exciting and stimulating phase going from research and developing to be a producing company with products on the market. Novavax are at the very forefront to be able to deliver a COVID-19 vaccine to fight the pandemic we are suffering from. Novavax also have several of very interesting and important other vaccine candidates in the clinical program; seasonal influenza, RSV and collaboration with external partners for a malaria vaccine.

The department Operations at Novavax AB has the responsibility to produce and deliver Matrix to internal and external customers to meet their requirements regarding quantities, timelines, costs and quality.

Novavx AB is looking for a highly motivated and experienced manager with excellent leadership skills, and with long experience from a similar role. The Director Operations will be both operational and strategic responsible for the department Operations, consisting of around 50 colleagues. The Director Operations currently has 3 direct reporting managers and a group of approximately 5 employees.

The Director Operations will be a member of the senior management team, reporting to the Managing Director for Novavax AB. The role is a permanent contract full-time and you will be based at the office in Uppsala.


Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated person with excellent leadership skills, and with experience from a similar role.
We are looking for a person with the ability to work both operational with day-to-day activities and strategic by having a comprehensive view of the company, and with the ability to work hands-on with some specific activities – not acting as a “top-level” manager.

You need to be strategic and structured, and willing to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities. It is important to have strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of the organization, within and outside the organization, and with Novavax Inc. We are looking for an ambitious person with a personal drive to take responsibility, and with the ability to work both independently and together with others to deliver results.

Experience and qualifications
• Educational background – or long experience from a similar role
• A wide experience from the Life Science industry
• Experience from a similar role -leading a commercial manufacturing organization ≥ 5 years
• Management experience with excellent leadership skills ≥ 5 years
• Excellent communication skills both verbally and written in Swedish and English, and with various organizational levels internally and externally
• Wide technical background with ability to understand various technical areas within GMP manufacturing, equipment and process development
• Knowledge and expertise in principles and current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in a development through commercial application
• Strong knowledge foundation of FDA and EU regulations regarding the manufacture of biologics (210, 211, and 610 CFR and Eudralex Vol 4), including regulatory inspection or support experience
• Experience from budgets, forecasts and Cost of Goods evaluations is a merit
• Experience of validation and process validation is meritorious
• Experience with Tech Transfer of manufacturing processes is a merit
• Experience with regulatory audits/inspections is meritorious
• Experience with continuous improvement techniques such as Operational Excellence, Lean, 5S or Six Sigma, meritorious
