Bactiguard is a global MedTech company dedicated to advancing patient safety by developing safe, biocompatible solutions that prevent medical device-related infections. Our unique technology is based on an ultra-thin noble metal coating that reduces bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation key contributors to healthcare-associated infections. Bactiguard undertook a strategic review in 2023 and sharpened their strategy and business model to focus on proprietary platform technologies commercialized through license partnerships within medical devices.

Bactiguard had a proprietary product portfolio of coated products sold under its brand and that are still displayed on the homepage. In connection with the strategic review, sales of these products are being discontinued, in favor of focusing resources on partnerships with other medical device companies with the core technology platform, including potentially these previously sold products.

Bactiguard is a global MedTech company developing safe and biocompatible technology to prevent medical device related infections. The company’s unique technology is based on an ultra-thin noble metal coating that prevents bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation on medical devices. Bactiguard’s infection prevention technology and solutions decrease patient suffering, save lives, and unburden healthcare resources while also fighting against antimicrobial resistance, one of the most serious threats to global health and modern medicine.

Bactiguard operates through license partnerships with leading global MedTech companies that apply the technology to their medical devices and sell them under their own brand or co-branded with Bactiguard. The company also has a portfolio of wound management products. Bactiguard is headquartered in Stockholm and listed on Nasdaq Stockholm.

Our story began in 2005, building on a rich legacy that dates back to 1912 with Nobel Laureate Gustav Dahlén. The infection prevention technology at the heart of Bactiguard was pioneered by Billy Södervall in the 1970s and achieved FDA approval in 1994. Since then, we’ve continued to grow through strategic partnerships — including collaborations with BD (Becton, Dickinson & Company) in 1990 and Zimmer Biomet in 2019.

Following our public listing on Nasdaq Stockholm in 2014, we’ve expanded our product portfolio and global presence. Key milestones include the acquisition of Vigilenz Medical Devices and the addition of innovative wound care solutions.

Today, Bactiguard focuses on licensing its proprietary technology to leading global MedTech companies, while also offering a range of in-house wound management products. Our mission is to reduce patient suffering, save lives, and ease the burden on healthcare systems, while contributing to the global fight against antimicrobial resistance one of the greatest health challenges of our time.

Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, Bactiguard is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm. We employ around 50 people in Sweden and 150 across Asia, working together to drive safer healthcare forward.
