About Bactiguard

Bactiguard is a global MedTech company dedicated to advancing patient safety by developing safe, biocompatible solutions that prevent medical device-related infections. Our unique technology is based on an ultra-thin noble metal coating that reduces bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation — key contributors to healthcare-associated infections.

Our story began in 2005, building on a rich legacy that dates back to 1912 with Nobel Laureate Gustav Dahlén. The infection prevention technology at the heart of Bactiguard was pioneered by Billy Södervall in the 1970s and achieved FDA approval in 1994. Since then, we’ve continued to grow through strategic partnerships — including collaborations with BD (Becton, Dickinson & Company) in 1990 and Zimmer Biomet in 2019.

Following our public listing on Nasdaq Stockholm in 2014, we’ve expanded our product portfolio and global presence. Key milestones include the acquisition of Vigilenz Medical Devices and the addition of innovative wound care solutions.

Today, Bactiguard focuses on licensing its proprietary technology to leading global MedTech companies, while also offering a range of in-house wound management products. Our mission is to reduce patient suffering, save lives, and ease the burden on healthcare systems, while contributing to the global fight against antimicrobial resistance — one of the greatest health challenges of our time.

Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, Bactiguard is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm. We employ around 50 people in Sweden and 150 across Asia, working together to drive safer healthcare forward.

Our Mission

At Bactiguard, our mission is to save lives and protect people by preventing healthcare-associated infections. Through our innovative and biocompatible coating technology, we reduce the risk of infection and the need for antibiotics—supporting global efforts to combat antimicrobial resistance and improve patient safety worldwide.
