Head of Business Development Nordic - TILLSATT

The role as Head of Business Development Nordic

The main responsibility as Head of Business Development is to expand the Nordic product portfolio of specialty branded generics and mature brands and to evaluate new market segments for the region in close cooperation with the local commercial and global Business Development Team. Factors to consider for new products evaluations are e.g. market need (evaluated through extended network of healthcare professionals), market size, number of competitors, patent situation, and the likelihood to get pricing and reimbursement from the national Medical Authorities across the region.

When licensing or new development opportunities are identified, manage negotiations with possible external partners as required and with support from the General Manager and the Business Development team.

This new role requires entrepreneurial, strong business focus with a good understanding of the Nordic marketplace and an organized, accurate, and pro-active way of working. As the company is relatively small, you must have a "can do" attitude and not be afraid to roll up your sleeves. The Head of Business Development Nordic reports to the General Manager Nordic and supports indirectly the global Business Development Team.

Key responsibilities

• Identify business opportunities to buy, in-license or develop new pharmaceutical products to expand Abcur/Concordia International’s portfolio of niche generics for the Nordic market, in close cooperation with Nordic KOL, other HCP’s, and the commercial business unit (GM, Marketing, Product and Tender Managers) in Nordic where the company has a commercial presence
• Create, by means of excel models, business cases for all new products and other business opportunities and update these business cases when new data emerges
• Prepare appraisals for each new project, for submission and presentation to the Business Development Team
• As an active member of the global Business Development Team, generate innovative ideas and identify opportunities that will help drive business growth 
• To support the Nordic General Manager and the Business Development Team to prepare a Business Development Strategy for the Nordic region. Work closely with various members of the company to develop a strategy/portfolio for primarily the Nordic market, including but not limited to:
o Commercial business units to ensure that the pipeline delivers value to their territory and to co-own presentations to be presented to the senior management team
o Regulatory to define the regulatory strategy and timings
o Medical team for advice and feedback on clinical study/bioequivalence study requirements, and help manage KOL interviews

Required Qualifications and Skills

• BSc or MSc in e.g. economics, natural sciences or engineering with an interest in health care
• Commercial knowledge and experience (at least 5 years) from the pharmaceutical or MedTech industry including Business/Product Development, sales, marketing or similar
• Experience from Business development
• Experience from small pharmaceutical or large generic companies is an advantage
• Excellent understanding of the Nordic generics market. Experience from other international markets is an advantage.
• Previous work experience with licensing/developing in close connection with Commercial and Regulatory Affairs
• Experience from using financial modelling techniques (NPV modelling) and IMS Data view (or other market research analysis)
• Familiar with Nordic Regulatory Affairs requirements including understanding of dossiers/MA application process
• Scandinavian mother tongue and fluent in English
• IT skills

The position involves traveling to Concordia in the UK, international congresses and other relevant meetings (in total approx. 10 %), but mostly in the Nordic countries.

Opportunities with the role

You will join a growing organization that puts people in focus. The Business Developer role is a new position and a key function for taking the company to the next level.

Together with the General Manager Nordic and the commercial team, you will develop a business development strategy, primarily in specialist medicine. You will be given great responsibility and free hands to work with in-licensing, acquisitions and generic registrations, in cooperation with Regulatory Affairs and our Global Business Development organization in London.
