Medical Scientific Liaison

Oncology

As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL), you will act on behalf of the Medical Affairs department, establishing professional relationships in the Nordic countries with various stakeholders in Oncology. You will engage in the exchange of scientific data and sharing clinical information on a peer-to-peer basis. You are responsible for providing fair balanced, objective, scientific information and education to health care customers and to internal business partners as required by business needs.

The position reports to the Nordic Medical Director.

Main purpose of the job
• To establish new and build upon the existing professional relationship with the regional KOL’s. The MSL will be responsible for regional opinion leader development and work cross-functionally to develop KOLs.
• To provide medical-scientific information regarding Eisai marketed and pipeline drugs according to legal requirements, ABPI code requirement and in collaboration with medical information.
• To discuss new research proposals with investigators and provide logistic support in the setting up of new studies (IITs).
• Gather medical insights and to support strategy / research/ data generation / educational initiatives.
• To participate in the development and execution of the phase IV plan.
• Ensure that results of sponsor-supported research are presented to the audience.
• To provide medical-scientific presentations on Specialist Care product(s) and/or related disease(s) on request.
• To organise and/or participate in regional Specialist Care advisory board meetings.
• To discuss adverse events (AEs) reported in IITs or other studies.
• To proactively gather information on disease area development, scientific progress in the area, prescribing habits/treatment pathways etc.
• To organise / host / present at regional educational meetings and symposiums
• To assist with manning a medical stand and handling medical/scientific questions from customers at local /international congresses.
• To work closely with Specialist Care colleagues and provide necessary support to the Sales and Marketing team, and medical affairs teams, including training
• To provide internal and external training, including departmental presentations
• To implement a hhc project

Territorial responsibility
The territorial responsibility for the Nordic countries is shared with a colleague based in Denmark. The position will preferably be based in Stockholm. Other locations can be considered i.e Gothenburg or Malmö. The position is field based working mainly from a home office and travelling to meet HCPs in the Nordic countries where the main focus will be Sweden and Finland.

Working relationships
• Reporting to Nordic Medical Director
• Direct interaction and close collaboration with the Nordic commercial and medical team
• Specialists, HCPs, healthcare policy makers, payers and budget holders in close cooperation with local Market Access

Experience and qualifications required
We are looking for an experienced professional with a successful performance in a scientific communication role, preferably in the area of Oncology.

Required skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• High level of planning and organisational skills.
• Flexible and adaptable to meet customer, departmental and organisational needs.

• Awareness of the legal and ethical issues affecting the provision of information
• Experience of presenting to internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience of working in a customer focused environment.
• Awareness of commercial processes at local country level – with a proven ability to critic and influence content of commercial material.
• Strong critical and independent thinking with effective team working skills.
• Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Project).

Language skills:
Fluent in English and at least one Scandinavian language. Good understanding and ability to communicate in other Nordic countries.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, pharmacology or bio-medical sciences, PhD or medical degree is advantageous.
