Research and Development

Ipsen Nordics
In the Nordic countries, we are represented since 2006 with a Nordic office in Kista Science Tower outside Stockholm.

In Norway, Denmark and Finland, we have locally based product specialists. Today we are 45 employees in the Nordic region who work with clinical research, marketing and sales of our products. We work mainly in the therapeutic areas of endocrinology, oncology and neuromuscular diseases.

The Nordic organisation consist of a broad-based mixture of functions and specialists such as Medical, Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Tender Management, Regulatory Affairs, Supply chain, General management, Finance and others. The majority of resources are shared within the Nordics and others are primarily local resources.

The Medical department Nordic has 10 employees with primary focus on Medical affairs, Drug safety and Clinical research. This in the prioritized therapeutic areas; oncology, Endocrinology, endocrinology (adult and child) and gastroenterology.

All the diversity and the overall specialist competencies in the organisation creates a solid environment for a fruitful collaboration, both in the Nordic as well as locally.

The position Nordic Medical Scientific Liaison Endocrinology

Position: Nordic Medical Scientific Liaison Endocrinology (MSL)

Supervisor: Nordic & Baltic Medical Director

Department: Medical affairs department

Location: Sweden with responsibility for the Nordic (Sweden, Norway and Denmark)

Purpose of the position
The MSL is a member of the affiliate medical department. He/she is a field-based professional with scientific, clinical and therapeutic area expertise who is responsible for supporting, on a non-promotional basis, medical and scientific initiatives for marketed and pipeline products. The MSL works in coordination with the rest of the medical unit to meet the medical department objectives. He/she participates in the identification of local opportunities, using his/her network of contacts, knowledge of therapeutic areas and health characteristics of the population in each area. Consequently, the MSL has responsibility in the development and implementation of the scientific activities and the clinical plan.
There is a new innovative delivery device that will be launched in a near future that will be a key focus for the MSL and the Nordic Endocrinology team.

Key responsibilities

- Maintaining, updating and disseminating scientific knowledge

- Maintain medical profiling database of Healthcare professionals (HCPs) and Key Thought Leaders (KTLs)�

- Inform KTLs and HCPs in disease areas of interest to Ipsen�

- Involvement with clinical research studies

- Review of promotional and non-promotional materials�

Experience, qualifications and competencies

Required experience, skills and qualifications
• Biomedical, Scientific University education ideally to post-graduate degree level -e.g. MSc, PhD, MD, PharmD
• Medical/paramedical Practice or Research career (hospital and/or hospital related, university research, pharmaceutical industry research or medical affairs)
• Ideally proven experience and successful track record as an MSL or medical department professional in a previous company
• Language: Expert/fluent communicator in their local language and excellent knowledge of written and spoken scientific English
• Working knowledge of the relevant Code of Practice


Technical Competencies

• Demonstrates scientific acumen and sound medical judgement which provides value to Ipsen and leads to sustainable relationships with HCPs

• Maintains highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams

• Demonstrates and ability to build and maintain a strong network of effective scientific relationships with stakeholders and maintain an understanding for HCPs, to achieve trusted advisor status

• Is able to understand and implement appropriate elements of medical strategy, whilst understanding how to be creative & compliant at the same time

Other useful information
• Specifics of the position: The position is field-based and regular travel will be required within an assigned geography (the Nordic cluster, mainly in Sweden and Norway) as well as regular meetings at head office (in Sweden)

• The position is part of a European Business unit : regular travel will be required in Europe for internal and external meetings

• The MSL within this EUBU is in charge of the Medical part of the Strategic and Operational plans. This role has responsible for the follow-up of the budget related to Medical activities

• Internal and external contacts (organisation): Cross-functional team members including field-based counterparts and internal stakeholders. Key Opinion Leaders, payers, formulary decision makers, other healthcare providers and vendors, as appropriate.
